It is good to say that this sudden increase in players could likely be attributed to the ludicrously successful Wrath of the Lich King expansion, which became the fastest-selling PC game of all time when it launched back in November. (Damn! I haven’t blogged about the launch that I attend in Singapore! Argh.)
But while WoW “celebrates” its constant growth, similar games such as the Age of Conan doesn’t seem to be growing as much.
All seems well except for comments that basically say WoW isn’t such a great game at all. Geek.com says “despite the game’s enormous popularity it hasn’t won any awards yet, not even topping our own list of top games for the year. In contrast, games with less players–like Left 4 Dead, have won numerous awards. However, the awards may not matter to those 11.5 million players who helped create this cultural phenomenon.”
