Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War - Soulstorm (Preview)

Screenshot taken from CVG.
The ‘gaming industry’ is seriously glooming and with the massive launching of somewhat good quality games (on various platforms), keeping track of the latest games is becoming mission impossible. Probably even Tom Cruise would have a hard time?
Anyhow.
2 nights before Nick left to return to Canada, he mentioned something about Warhammer (a online PC game I assume) and something about ask Teddybear (and the rest of the ‘gang’) to buy it and play it with him.
I’ll be absolutely honest here even if it means I cannot pretend to be ‘The Oracle’ for games that is! [ Click here to read more ]

Know-It: Ultrasound Technology
Posted by miuki as Advertorial
I have no idea what ultrasound tech is or what ultrasound tech school teaches, but I guess I’m about the find out…
Ultrasound Technology operates on scientific principles utilized by such animals as bats and dolphins.
The term ultrasound actually refers to
any sound above a frequency 20,000 hertz, or the maximum limit of human hearing. Although we cannot perceive these sounds, a variety of natural creatures can both detect and produce ultra-high frequency acoustic signals.
Bats, for instance, emit ultrasonic sounds and then listen for them to be echoed off their surroundings. From the duration and volume of these echoes, a bat is able to create a picture of his environment that allows him to navigate and catch tiny insects in pitch darkness. In fact, the precision of this method is nothing short of staggering: a bat can tell the difference between a flying moth and a falling leaf while flying at full speed!
Interesting eh? [ Click here to read more ]

Game. Gaming. Gambling?
Posted by miuki as Advertorial, Perspectives
There’s like a directory for everything these days.
And basically the most important thing, in my opinion that is, that makes an online directory work is the search-ability, and of course, the site navigations.
This Casino guide site (as in the screenshot above) really need a color-makeover, and I can’t really say much about the ‘search-ability‘. In fact, I don’t exactly see any. But of course, navigation wise… It’s really not too bad. Easy to navigate around and more importantly, the whole table thingy works well for me.
Lets move on…
I wouldn’t really define ‘Gambling‘ as ‘Gaming‘ or even that it’s something like a ‘Game‘. However, I don’t exactly call the shots either, do I? [ Click here to read more ]

Does money grow on trees?
Posted by miuki as Advertorial, Perspectives
Remember the last entry that came after the topic ‘start your own online game shop‘? You know the…
Does it work or does it not?
Well, I said that,
I’ve not really tested it or anything like that. So, as far as I can tell, the site basically, as mentioned, showcases reviews from people that have used particular products or even services, that you and I may be interested in. In short, it’s something like a rating site. Commercial ratings I guess?
I need to do my research now.
If, by any chance, I get the funds, or I found a way to work around the whole ‘funds thing‘ and I’m really going to start an online game shop, I’ll update again!
I’ve been reading up on the whole payday loans and cash advance thingy. And well, [ Click here to read more ]

Time to pay Philippines a visit?
Posted by miuki as Advertorial, Personal
Let’s be honest here, I love traveling but there are certain places that I didn’t include on my ‘lifetime traveling plans‘.
For example, the Philippines.
See… I’ve had Filipino maids for the whole of my life, never a Singaporean or anything like that. Thus, I’ve always had the impression that the Philippines is like a provincial country. In other words, I somewhat considered it a ‘poor man’s land‘.
(I doubt they have resorts, and I cannot begin to imagine the kind of hotels or even motels, they have.)
Unlike Vietnam or such, how often do you hear about sights and/or landmarks worth visiting in the Philippines?
Lets be honest here, they’re not exactly the country filled with wonders. Disasters on the other hand… That I’ve heard a lifetime worth of stories.
Impressions can be changed.

The Philippines ‘Gaming’ Industry
Posted by miuki as Industry
A friend of mine introduced me to IP e-Games Philippines, out of the blue. And like I always say…
Curiosity is a sin, but one that I often commit.
Yes, as expected, I didn’t some look up on it in the internet (Google that is) I found out that,
IP e-Games Philippines is one of the leading online game publishers in the Philippines.
According to some god forsaken statistics (facts or fiction I can’t be sure), IP e-Games Philippines has more than 4 million registered users, with 950,000 active users per month!
On average, IP e-Games Philippines hosts 40,000 concurrent users for its games, including RAN Online, O2Jam, Dreamville and Battle Position whatever that is.
(By any chance does IP e-Games Philippines have any relations to e-Games? Just a thought.)
They have a wide selection of games that caters to casual gamers to core enthusiasts. Its flagship game, RAN Online, a campus-based Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), and rhythm game O2 Jam. In addition, they also have Battle Position, a platform-based real-time shooter, and Dreamville, the first Social Network Service (SNS) in the Philippines.
During the last quarter of the previous last year, IP e-Games Philippines launched two additional games: [ Click here to read more ]

Spock proudly presents WWE Raw!
Posted by miuki as Games
I’m not sure why, but I’ve always had this idea that most guys out there tend to enjoy watching wrestling, programs such as WWE?
Anyway. I guess that’s why it caught the attention of game developers.
Sad to say, apparently these game developers of WWE Raw aren’t true fans of the wrestling after all.
I mean… With a 5.7 rating and a statement -
WWE Raw unfortunately does little to fill the wrestling void in PC gaming.
You can somewhat say that they are not truly able to capture the essence of wrestling, right? [ Click here to read more ]

What are your gaming resolutions for 2008?
Posted by miuki as Gamers, Personal
Time really does fly by so quickly…

I don’t have a 2008 one yet.
Not too long ago we were celebrating the turn of a year. In a couple more days (give and take a little), it’s going to be Lunar New Year.
Sometimes I wish we could just put a pause to it all and just enjoy the moment as it is.
*Sigh*
In the past, writing or rather blogging was merely an obsessive hobby of mine. These days it seems like part of my bread and butter as well. The good thing about it is that I get to write and somewhat get to cash out on it. The bad, well… It may end up becoming a ‘need‘ rather then a ‘want‘, which will kill the hobby altogether.
Anyhow.
I realized I’ve not actually made my gaming resolutions for 2008 yet, so here it is.
My resolution for 2008, like what ‘Blog Banter‘ would say, [ Click here to read more ]

Does it work or does it not?
Posted by miuki as Advertorial, Perspectives
In my previous entry, I was on the topic ‘start your own online game shop‘ (which was somewhat advertorial). This time round, it’s for real?
I’ve been putting some thought into the whole online game shop thing, and out of the blue (not really that out of a blue), I recalled that Pris’s boyfriend runs one. (It’s www.noctalis.com in case you’re interested to know.)
Here’s the thing, if Pris’s boyfriend can stay at home almost every single day playing games, and still make rough income of 2k for just selling games online… I guess it’s a business worth going into?
After all, it’s rather automatic with the shopping cart software installed and all. Plus, there are tons of new games coming up, like…
Or is that out already? Hmmm… [ Click here to read more ]
