Bruckheimer to Develop Video Games in MTV Deal
Posted by miuki as Industry
The New York Times reports that blockbuster Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer is going to try his hand at developing video games.
The Times says Bruckheimer’s company is going to announce a deal with MTV next Wednesday.
On Wednesday Mr. Bruckheimer’s company will announce a deal with MTV to develop actual video games, which would probably start appearing on store shelves in 2009. The new games will be based on fresh concepts rather than on current MTV shows or on Mr. Bruckheimer’s vast library of past projects, which includes the “C.S.I.” television franchise and movies like “Beverly Hills Cop” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
As its audience has grown more interested in video games, MTV, a division of Viacom, is trying to follow them.
In August, MTV announced that it would invest more than $500 million in its interactive entertainment business over the next two years. Several weeks ago, it released Rock Band, a well-reviewed game in which players operate instrument-shaped controllers in time to pop songs. [ Click here to read more ]

Worth of a gamer’s life
Posted by miuki as Personal
I’ve been gaming for the most part of my life. Sometimes I forget to differentiate reality from the online life that I have.
Normal for a gamer though. You can really be immersed in the game that you over look the fact that you still have to live the physical life. I’m getting kinda emotional huh?
Not exactly. It’s just that an insurance agent approached me today and he got me thinking. He wasn’t able to sell me anything though. Hey uncle! I’m a gamer.
You can say that half of my life is spent online nowadays. So why would I go to a live insurance agent? Might as well search for an online insurance policy. Makes sense right? [ Click here to read more ]

Time to get PSP!
Posted by miuki as Gadgets
Have I mentioned that apart from white, pink is the next best color in the world?
I’m dying to get one, but probably not until after Christmas.
Take a look at the wallpapers I found at http://www.yourpsp.com/pink/: [ Click here to read more ]

A buck for the effort!
Posted by miuki as Personal
For weeks I’ve been going on and on about how I want to go back to gaming. (And not to mention all of those gaming gadgets that I want to buy.)
Well, I’m pretty sure that’s gonna be soon. Plus, right now I am officially a postie for payperpost! (Another means of making money online, not forget easy.) That means more dispensable income for my addiction in gaming!
Hmmm… What I like about PayPerPost (as of now that is) is so-called “linkage” between bloggers and advertisers. And compared to other sites that provide similar “services“, this site is much easier to navigate.
As for the $$$… From what I know, they pay on time. So I guess there’s not much to worry on that aspect. And since they give you the net amount, you don’t have to compute (saves some brain cells).
Yippee! In a few more months (or less), I’ll be able to buy that pink PSP (I hope).
All I have to worry about is on what to buy with my extra earnings. Haha!!!
I’ll probably be hanging around LAN shops more frequently these days. So you guys, watch out for me. Hmmm… What else? [ Click here to read more ]

Moving to console?
Posted by miuki as Personal
When I was much younger, probably about 10 or something, I somewhat recall playing consoles like SEGA and stuff like that at my cousin’s place. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, my mum even bought one of those ancient console boxes (that requires the TV for it to work) for me and my sisters. But, of course, since I apparently don’t have much recollection of it, I assume I was either never very good at it, or didn’t really like it at all.
What’s my point?
In short, what I’m trying to say is that I’ve never really been much of a ‘console gamer‘ (in the past or present) - most of the time I use a keyboard and a mouse to navigate around a 10″ to even 21″ inch LCD screen (of a laptop or PC of course).
However, gaming is continuously evolving and the standards of gamers has improved a lot. To keep my title as a so-called “gamer” (or at least I claim to be one), console gaming is something that I have to literally - “lay my hands on“.
Otherwise, how can I really consider myself a “true gamer“, right? [ Click here to read more ]

Reaching the edge?
Posted by miuki as Personal
Every once in a while you feel as though you’ve reached the edge of a cliff and you can’t seem to turn around, away from it.
It’s times like this that makes me wonder, is it time to take a step back?
Okay. I admit I sound a little too dramatic. Still… You cannot imagine the humiliation I suffered today! I swear - IT HURTS!
It isn’t the kind of pain you suffer every other day. It has not only proven that I… Miuki, lost to a guy, that apparently played this game for the very first time, at my supposedly ‘best game‘ (which obviously I’m not going to mention)! *Ouch*
The irony…
I’ve always been the kinda girl that believes in equality among genders. I believe that the abilities of a female can, in fact, surpass those of a male. But today… do I admit my defeat? [ Click here to read more ]

Gearin’ Up: Philips Wireless Laser mouse SPM7711
Posted by miuki as Gear
It’s all about the game and how you play it…
As a PC Gamer (I’m referring to myself, of course), it’s somewhat crucial to snag the right mouse that’s sleek as well as points accurately (in fact, as a designer, I find that relatively important as well) - it means the difference between life and death on the so-called playing field (within a game of course).
Price (RRP): S$79.00
According to reviews - Philips new wireless mouse (not that I’ve tested or even bought it yet) has a smooth design and, may I add, a silicone surface. [ Click here to read more ]

December: Back to the old days…
Posted by miuki as Personal
Finally it’s December and I’m BACK!
Guess what! *Ahem* I’m jobless (or rather my physical being is jobless, I never actually worked to begin with)! *Haha*
I’ve been going through all the entries I’ve written here and I realised…
Aaarg! It’s full of rubbish. This whole blog doesn’t even make sense or relates to what I’m trying to portray at all!
The previous entry felt more real. I really do miss Counter-Strike and not forgetting World of Warcraft. I seriously have this urge to return to gaming yet again… [ Click here to read more ]
