Second Life: 9/11 Memorial, 6th Anniversary

Posted by miuki as Games

My experiences in Second Life may not be very enriching. However, I must say that every visit always has a deeper meaning to it.

So now, as mentioned in my main blog,

Yesterday, September 11, 2007, marks the 6th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, New York (NY).

I’d like to thank Andrew Peter, better known as APLINK, for somewhat inviting me to grace the event and take a glimpse at the memorial site.

FYI: I’m the avatar in the long black hair and Andrew is standing at the right of me, the tall one in the black suit with grey-ish hair.

Its center is a reflecting pool, surrounded by four obsidian walls which list the names of the dead, set off by intermittent rain, and the warm glow of an eternal sunset.

The names of the victims of 9/11 are listed around the square on the walls of the monument, as mentioned. And in one corner you can enter a walkway that displays all of the pictures of the victims.

Thanks to,

Sundra Petrov and Faction Starostin

This may probably be a permanent memorial, and there is a donation box at the location, to help fund its hosting.

Here’s a short video clip of “a very imperfect glimpse” of the memorial:
