IGN - Game of the Month, August 2007
Posted by miuki as Games
According to an article by IGN PlayStation Team, their Game of the Month for August 2007 is none other then…

And why Warhawk?
Why We Picked It: Warhawk has been long in the coming, and had a couple major design changes along the way, but the end result was worth the wait. By ditching the single-player portion of the game and focusing solely on its online elements, Incognito was able to put together an extremely polished, extremely fun and extremely addictive multiplayer experience. It will likely stand as the PlayStation 3’s main online gaming draw for some time, and for good reason. And since it’s available for download as well as an in-store purchase, you don’t even need to get off the couch to hop in.

Gaming Fiesta 2007
Posted by miuki as Personal, Perspectives
It’s so unfair…
Why wasn’t there a gaming fiesta back when I was still very much into gaming? Sigh…
Gaming Festival is a bold new initiative by a group of tertiary students, to bring gaming enthusiasts together. We hope to allow gamers to find opportunities in our new gaming industries, at the same time networking and enjoying themselves. Gaming Festival will also be a venue for our upcoming software and board gaming industries to promote themselves and to bring about a higher level of interest of gaming and gaming development in Singapore.
If I’m not wrong, in 2006, they also held a “Gaming Fiesta“. I’m not sure if it’s the same thing though.
Anyway. I have to admit that I’m rather slow. The site was build in July and only now, in August, I chanced upon it. *Laugh* [ Click here to read more ]

Society of Simulation and Gaming of Singapore (SSAGSg)
Posted by miuki as Personal
I feel as though I’ve been hiding in a deep, deep, deep well for so long until I can barely remember.
I’m not sure about you guys out there, but I have seriously never heard of the “Society of Simulation and Gaming of Singapore (SSAGSg)” in my life!
According to the website:
The Society of Simulation and Gaming of Singapore (SSAGSg) is a non-profit professional organization set up to contribute to the development of Simulation and Gaming in Singapore and the region.
They claim that their a focused community for researchers, practitioners and developers who are keen in furthering their professional knowledge through learning and working together and promoting the experiential activities in the public community.
However, based on their “updates“. I really don’t know what to think…

Happy 42nd National Day, Singapore!
Posted by miuki as Personal
Okay, this is definitely NOT game related. But what the heck man. It’s my country’s birthday!
It’s good to have “someone” to do designs for you to leverage on isn’t it?

World Cyber Games 2007 - Singapore National Finals
Posted by miuki as Tournaments
The World Cyber Games (WCG) has been an event that I try at best to take note of every year. And this year (2007), what I can say is, the publicity created really puts the last couple of years to shame (congrats organizers).
Before the actual event itself, probably everyone (gamer or non-gamer) knows about the upcoming championship. And it has seriously put the gaming scene in Singapore a step higher then before.
Though still not perfect (but nothing ever is), it’s definitely defining the acceptance we Singaporeans have towards gaming in general. Actual sports might not be the “Singapore thing” but “Cyber Sports” we most definitely have the talents (and it is so not outsourced, we are actually talking about local talent).
Sadly, though taking note of the happenings within the gaming community, I am most definitely not within the ones that pursue a competitive approach towards it.
It’s an age issue, I guess?

The World Cyber Games 2007 - Singapore Championships was held on 2nd and 3rd of August 2007 at Suntec Singapore Hall 602.
This year’s WCG Singapore campaign has, in fact, started much earlier then the previous couple of years. [ Click here to read more ]

Good bye July. Hello August!
Posted by miuki as Personal
Finally July is OVER and August has just BEGAN!
It’s more then a month and I’ve been reading up quite a bit on what I’m going to be discussing in the days to come. But of course, World of Warcraft is going to be one of the topic I doubt I will drift away from (regardless if I get my account back or not).
Hmmm… Perhaps it is time? Perhaps I should try to psycho my other half to design a new blog design for me? I know she will most definitely agree. After all, I am her and she is me. I look good means she looks good. Right? Duh.
Okay people, I need any suggestions you can think of! Com’on, com’on, com’on! It’s a fresh new month and a fresh new start! I wonder what new games will be launched this August! ![]()
